Why it’s time to future-proof your business with MACH technology
by Liam Springate-Jones
At Splendid UNLIMITED, we have a highly specialised and talented team of digital designers who create quality experiences for our clients, from websites and applications to seamless CX. Jaime Miralles, one of our Junior Experience Designers joined the Splendid academy, which is an initiative the agency created to allow aspiring designers the opportunity to learn and grow their skills. Based in London and with an interest in AI, Jaime has only been at Splendid for a short time but has already worked on several exciting projects. We cast the spotlight on Jamie below:
How long have you been with the company?
1 year and 3 months
How would you describe your role?
My job includes carrying out production design and assisting senior members with challenging assignments or complex projects. This includes the policing of new ideas and sometimes helping pitch decks to prepare for clients. I also present designs from time to time to clients if I’m involved in the conceptualization and production of the design.
What do you enjoy most about being a designer?
Well, I guess you’re always keeping up with the latest developments in the industry. There are always new technologies and exciting projects that are coming through, which makes the role more exciting. New design trends and new software that you have to learn and get familiar with, like 3D or AI, and I think it’s being involved in all these areas that make the role enjoyable.
What’s the toughest challenge you’ve had at work since you joined the agency?
The toughest challenge, I believe, it’s when you’re brought into a project for the first time, and you’re overwhelmed by all the information and the project requirements. It’s those first days that you must get on board with everything quickly. As a designer, you must understand how a client thinks and works so you can deliver the desired results in a way that produces high-quality products while sticking to deadlines.
What do you like most about the Unlimited Group?
I really enjoy the team. They’ve been super helpful since I started and they’re on hand if you need anything. Everyone has the mindset of helping and supporting each other on each project to ensure the best results. I think it’s quite a nice atmosphere and feels like a good place to grow.
What’s your favourite design project you’ve worked on?
I am really enjoying working on Barilla. The whole redesign of the website is quite an interesting project. It’s bringing out the whole heritage of the brand and everything into a modernised view.
In terms of success, what accomplishments are you most proud of?
Well, I was really excited about the work we did with RFU (Rugby Football Union). We were satisfied with the first rounds of design, which normally need to iterate quite a bit. The client liked what we proposed and produced. So, I’m quite happy with that because it was a great bit of exposure.
What’s the best piece of creative you’ve ever seen?
I don’t have any specific examples, but I find inspiration often browsing through the Awwwards Website, which is quite interesting. It’s a website where people submit designs and vote on the best ones. It’s good if you need inspiration and they usually showcase amazing stuff, like 3D movements and very clean and aesthetic designs.
Finally, what’s your secret talent no one knows about?
I don’t know if it’s a secret, or even a talent, but perhaps working as a designer and having a background in mechanical engineering gives me a bit of an edge when it comes to data, working with numbers or getting familiar with new software. Maybe a more logical approach to finding solutions is something I can bring to the table.
